BEARING FAILURE MAY OCCUR
Certain axles were fitted with bearing units which may exhibit premature wear in certain trailer applications. Prolonged use in these applications may result in degradation of the bearing grease. Early indicators may include noise roughness excessive end-play high running temperatures and ABS signal error. This may lead to bearing failure axle damage and/or in extreme instances wheel located fire.
Depending on trailer application either replace hub units or check and retorque hub assembly. Where retorquing is considered adequate recheck for symptoms and if necessary replace bearing.
Contact the local MERITOR HVS LTD dealership or manufacturer. You will not need to pay for anything involving the recall.
The Recalled vehicles will have the fixing checked and corrected as necessary by and official MERITOR HVS LTD service.
