FRONTAL AIRBAGS AND SEATBELT PRETENSIONERS

Reason for recall

The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) which controls the airbag and pretensioner deployment contains a software defect which may prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners in certain rare circumstances. If the frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners do not deploy when required there is an increased risk of injury to occupants in a crash.

Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and reprogram the SDM with new software. In vehicles with any previous deployment events recorded in the SDM the existing SDM will be replaced with a new SDM containing the latest software.

Contact the local GENERAL MOTORS CO LLC dealership or manufacturer. You will not need to pay for anything involving the recall.

How the manufacturer will repair

The Recalled vehicles will have the fixing checked and corrected as necessary by and official GENERAL MOTORS CO LLC service.
