POSSIBLE OIL LEAK AND FAILURE OF GEARBOX

Reason for recall

It is possible that following a large number of retarder operations the retarder change over valve springs could fail causing damage to the valve seals which results in oil leaks from the valves. In extreme circumstances total failure of the gearbox due to lack of lubrication can occur.

Remedy

Recall affected vehicles and renew the retarder change over valve return springs. Issue service information advising that the springs should be renewed every 250 000 kms.
