STARTER MOTOR HEATSHIELD MAY BREAK OFF AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT

Reason for recall

The brackets retaining the heat shield of the starter motor may fail and allow the heat shield to fall on and chafe through the B+ cable. If left there is a theoretical risk of fire.

Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the starter motor heat shield. Additionally the exhaust pipe will be inspected for signs of cracks on flange facing turbo outlet and the gasket will be replaced.
