Reason for recall

Due to exposure of water and dirt intrusion in the engine compartment the alternators may fail prematurely due to seized bearings. In the worst case the alternators could overheat causing an engine compartment fire.

Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the alternators with new improved versions equipped with protection washers on front and rear bearing. Update engine encapsulation and exchange the alternator protective shield to reduce the amount of dirt and water entering the engine compartment.
